Above this text is the scene from the film "The girl in the spider's net", and we know that this movie is fiction, or I hope so. But the fact is that this kind of snipe system is under development by DARPA and other research units around the world.
Many times there are scenes in the films, where the sniper shoots through the wall. In most cases, the used weapon would have a simply infrared camera, but there have been created systems, that can use X- or gamma-rays for targeting objects and persons in the houses. The simplest way is to use the X- or gamma-ray camera and the radiation source, which is another side of the building. But there are created more powerful and accurate systems. By shooting precise shots the system needs two types of data.
1)The location of the target.
2)And the vector or trajectory of the bullet. If the system has those two values, it can give precise shoot even through the wall.
The X-ray sniping system is far easier to make than people imagine. The system requires four drones, what are using X-ray cameras and X-ray transmitters to point the person and equipment. In modern systems, there is possible to use infrared, X- and gamma-ray systems and radars for locating things that are behind the wall.
Then that system sends the data to the scope. The scope would use a similar position recognition system, which is used in mobile telephones. But the theoretically same effect would get by using a level and compass, which allows the system to know the aiming point. If the gun is equipped with a laser scope, the drone can also see the laser point on the wall and in this case one of the drones would follow the laser aiming point, and four others are searching objects inside the house.
So the crosshair on the target would be given by the drone or it can be calculated by using the data of the position of the target. That thing can give pinpoint accuracy for powerful rifles, which can shoot through walls.
The intelligent system, which is connected to the scope must only know the position of the angle to the target, and that thing allows the system to know the vector of the bullet. So the scope might need only a compass and the system, which is detecting the position of the weapon. The system can use the LED light of the drone to position itself, and then the drones are sending the X-ray image from the house.
The drones would operate as pairs and the system is acting like a normal X-ray machine. The X-rays will send to the drone, which is opposite the transmitter, and because the system uses four drones, it can position the targets inside the house very accurately, because drones are making the cross by using X-rays.
