Do we have free will at all? In society, we must follow commonly made rules or we are in trouble. We always meet the limits, and even if we are absolute rulers of nations there are limits. There is another ruler of other countries, and even if there are only smaller nations, those nations might try to make military alliances.
And if the ruler of the nation is a despot, that thing means that finally, that kind of person is old and if they were too tough, that means they would face their fate in the hands of their henchmen. In an absolute monarchy, the son of the ruler is the person, who authorizes the investigations. That means that nobody cares, what was the fate of the ruler if the son did not order to make them.
And the absolute rulers paid the big price for their privileges. If the relationships between the king and his son were distant, that means that the king was an outlaw. If somebody murdered that man, the son was the only person, who had the right to justify that thing.
We are making our choices ourselves. So we have free will in that way of thinking. But if we are making bad choices like break the law, we would go into trouble. In all societies is limits, what people are allowed or what they are not allowed to do. The purpose of rules is to make life in society easier and guarantee peace in the group, that it can defend itself against outcoming threats.
The idea of this kind of thing is "together we are strong". The internal peace is making the society stronger against the outcoming threats. The idea of a society, where are rules and orders what everybody must follow is that the members of society can focus to fight for a goal, which is common to each of them.
Free will means that we can do whatever we want. And that thing is one of the most misunderstood things in the world. The term "free education" or "free raising" is many times misunderstood. That person can or allowed to do everything that they want because there are not used physical punishments.
Avoiding physical punishment doesn't mean that person would not get punishment it means that the punishment can be closing in the room, or it can be bad tasting food. The idea of avoiding physical violence is that the person, who is punished would not connect the punishments to the people, who are giving them. If the person would follow orders there is a gift.
If the person would not follow orders there is punishment. One of the best ways to teach persons to make their jobs well is forcing them to use the manufacturing tools or other things, what they are made.
Maybe the people, who are not making proper work would use those products themself. The idea of this kind of punishment was created by philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau who invented the idea, that if the child breaks the window, that child would put to sleep in that room. That thing taught those children very well what are the consequences of breaking the window.
Sometimes the feral children like Victor of Aveyron are used as an example of what too many liberties or freedoms are making to humans. The fact is that without learning humans would not rule the world. We need our houses, technology, and other things for surviving in nature. If we don't have our houses and clothes, we would die in nature. Because without our technical equipment humans are a very limited species. And the ability to make technical equipment requires education.
The writing skill makes it possible that information can transmit over generations. And writing allows making instructions. By following writings a person can check things that they must do when they are making tools.
Free will in human life is a myth. There is no free will in human society. In the society is needed the strict rules, how to live and behave. If there are no rules, society would turn worse than any jungle. Humans have their intelligence, and that thing makes humans more dangerous than any lion or snake in the world.
Sometimes we are talking about natural beasts. But human is also the natural being. We are a naturally born species, which has a unique ability to think abstraction. Our technology and ability to think about the future are making us unique. We are not living here and now. We can plan our future. And that thing is one of the things that is separating us from the animals.
